About Aster & How to Use These Guides

Aster is a multi-chain decentralized perpetuals exchange built for on-chain trading without giving up custody. Unlike a centralized exchange, it does not currently ask for identity verification, an email address or account creation: traders connect a Web3 wallet such as MetaMask or Binance Wallet, deposit USDT on BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana or Arbitrum, and trade from there. Whether the platform is available to you where you live is a separate question, and one to check for yourself. The venue runs order-book perps on crypto, stocks and commodities, plus spot and yield products, with hidden encrypted orders that keep resting size and direction out of the public book. Aster's own documentation and launch announcement describe the platform as the product of a 2024 merger between Astherus and APX Finance, backed by YZi Labs and advised by Binance founder CZ. A backer is not an operator.

What sets Aster apart from other DEXs is its combination of privacy and flexibility. Every order can be encrypted before it reaches the chain and decrypted only at execution, so it never shows in the public order book — read our hidden orders explainer for the full mechanics. Aster also supports up to 1001x leverage on select pairs via one-click Simple mode, spot trading, 24/7 stock & commodity perps, yield products through Aster Earn (asBNB, USDF), and the native ASTER token.

This hub organizes every Aster tutorial into seven categories. New users should start with the Getting Started section, which walks through wallet connection, USDT deposits, and placing a first trade in just a few minutes. If you already have a wallet and just want the sequence for buying and trading, skip the hub and go straight to how to trade on Aster, step by step, or to the dedicated how to buy Aster walkthrough if acquiring the token is what you came for. The Trading Features category covers order types, leverage management, hidden orders, 1001x mode, and 24/7 stock & commodity perps. Fees & Savings indexes the cost side, and the rate card itself lives on the Aster fee schedule, explained; for what a round trip actually costs here against other venues, see our perp DEX fee index. Exchange Comparisons provides data-driven analyses against competitors including Hyperliquid. The Ecosystem section explores Aster Chain, Aster Earn, and the ASTER token — including the Aster token release schedule, which sets out epoch by epoch when supply actually reaches the market. Privacy & Security covers hidden orders, self-custody, and opsec, while Troubleshooting addresses common wallet, deposit, and chain issues.

Each guide is written for a specific skill level and task. Browse the category cards below to jump directly to a topic, or scroll through the full article listing to find exactly what you need. All guides include step-by-step instructions and links to related articles so you can deepen your understanding without leaving the site. Why Use Aster?

Aster encrypts orders before they reach the chain and decrypts them only at execution, so resting size and direction stay out of the public book while settlement remains on-chain. That removes the readable order flow most position-hunting and MEV strategies rely on, though it is not anonymity and no venue removes the risk outright. Standard perps carry per-pair leverage caps, and select BTC/ETH pairs go up to 1001x through one-click Simple mode. Trading costs are low enough to be part of the pitch, and the rate card, the two discounts and the arithmetic of how they stack are set out on the Aster fee schedule, explained rather than repeated here. Aster does not currently ask for identity verification or an email address, and it runs natively across BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana and Arbitrum. Supply runs on its own timetable, epoch by epoch, in the Aster token unlock schedule.

Who These Guides Are For

These guides are written for three audiences. New crypto traders who have only used centralized exchanges like Coinbase or Binance will find the Getting Started walkthroughs cover every step from connecting a wallet to placing a first leveraged trade — no prior DeFi experience required. Experienced perp traders migrating from Hyperliquid, dYdX, GMX, or centralized venues will want the Trading Features and Comparison guides, which assume familiarity with leverage, funding rates, and order books and focus on what is meaningfully different about Aster — including hidden orders, 1001x mode, and the Simple vs Pro split. DeFi power users interested in yield-bearing collateral, Aster Earn, Aster Chain, and the ASTER token should head to Ecosystem, which covers the on-chain composability and yield surfaces unique to Aster. Every guide is updated as the protocol evolves — Aster ships fast, so always verify fees, leverage caps, and token mechanics against the official docs before acting.
